Fellowship Ministry

We promote the fellowship of all believers. In the early church, "they broke bread in their homes and are together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people." (Acts 2:46-47) The Fellowship Ministry Team provides opportunities and activities throughout the year where church members, family and friends can come together for fellowship and service. We will remain steadfast in our commitment to maintain an atmosphere of welcome and a sense of belonging to all who walk through our doors.

We gave fun and exciting events including dinners, plays, picnics, camping, Hollywood Bowl, dog shows, Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas caroling, dancing, trivia parties, talent shows and more events occuring throughout the year at Moorpark Presbyterian Church. Some of our annual Fellowship events are described below.

There is a lot going on in the life of Moorpark Presbyterian. Scroll down for more information.

Dinner for 8 at 6 -

These are informal get togethers held four times each year (quarterly) at 6 PM on a Saturday evening. Eight people gather at someone's home for dinner. After dinner the group meets with another group of eight from another home as they combine for dessert. This is always a fun evening of relaxed conversation and an opportunity to meet new people.

Passion Play -

This is an event that is scheduled for the week prior to Easter. It is held at Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch. It is the story of Jesus Christ's life the week before his death.  This is an important part of Christian Life. It is always a wonderful and moving experience.

All Church Picnic -

The All Church Picnic is typically held the first or second week of June in a local community park.  We have a chili cook-off, cake walk, and lots of picnic games. This is a great event for fellowshipping with the whole church family.

2007 MPC Annual Picnic

All Church Camping Trip -

The annual camping trips is held at a local beach on a weekend in July. It is fun to sit around the campfire, watch the sunset, and get to know your fellow campers. On Saturday we invite those who are not camping to come for a day of fellowshipping on the beach. On Sunday there is a worship service for the campers.

Hollywood Bowl -

A group trip to the Hollywood Bowl is planned for the month of September. There is always great music and a spectacular fireworks show. We take a bus to avoid the traffic and spend more time together as a group. There is plenty of time for picnicking and fellowshipping before the concert. It is a relaxing evening under the stars.

Dog Show -

This event is usually held in October. This was inspired by our own Pastor Dave. He was in England and saw a very informal Dog Show taking place. Some of the categories are: Fluffiest tail, best six legs, biggest dog, smallest dog; you get the picture. Last year we even added Best Human Trick. This event is always a lot of fun.

All Church Thanksgiving Dinner -

This is one of Moorpark Presbyterian Church's biggest events. We all gather the Sunday before Thanksgiving, and have a wonderful feast family style right down to the Pumpkin Pie.

Christmas Caroling -

We gather at the Church on a Sunday in December and go caroling around the neighborhoods. After caroling we go back for hot cocoa, hot cider and cookies.

Dancing Under the Stars -

It doesn't matter if you have two left feet. Come for the fellowship time. 2007 was the first year for this event featuring two dance instructors giving us lessons.  We also had some free- dance time.

Trivial Pursuit -

Which of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient world was located at Alexandria? To a skateboarder does the word sick mean good, bad, or dangerous?  What is the airspeed of an un-laden swallow?   Do you have a knack for retaining information of 'questionable' value and the desire to share it in a friendly, competitive environment?  Consider joining us for our Trivial Pursuit party.  Enjoy a night of fellowship and trivia.  Amaze your friends... or just come for the snacks.

Church Social and Talent Show -

This annual activity combines a pot luck dinner (always a big hit) with a themed variety show.  Whether you feel called to display your God-given abilities, the lack thereof, or just want to sit back and be entertained, the social and talent show is sure to be a family favorite.  Be sure to put this event on your calendar for a night of fun, a surprise or two, a chance to visit with friends, and the opportunity make some new ones.
