Moorpark Presbyterian Church invites you to a conference for Church webmasters and technologists.

The first conference was held at Moorpark Presbyterian Church on Saturday January 26, 2008. Stormy weather in Southern California prohibited many from attending.

A second conference will be scheduled in March or April.

The Presbyterian webmasters conference is an opportunity for Presbyterian web technologists to meet and discuss the tools and techniques used in developing and maintaining our Church websites.

This will be a conference to share about our emerging web presences. It will be a day to share, compare, and learn from our collective experiences. Surveying the websites in our Presbytery reveals a broad spectrum of experience and technological maturity.

The World Wide Web as a communication channel -

The Internet and the World Wide Web, in particular, offer an increasingly powerful venue for spreading the world of the Gospel and reaching out to members, both new and old.  Our Church websites are, indeed, our window to the world.  They are an important tool in reaching out to new members, staying in touch with distant members, and communicating with our congregations.   They can be a channel for communication and outreach while also serving as part of our communication infrastructure. It is important that we harness the power of the Internet as an effective component of our communications ministries.

A Day to Share and Compare -

The objective of the conference is to learn from one another to collectively build a stronger presence on the web both individually, and collectively.  It will be a day for sharing, teaching, and learning. It is a day to hone existing skills and learn new ones.

It will be a day in which iron sharpens iron.

Call for Presentations –

If you would like to share about your Church website, please submit a request to be included on the presentation agenda.

  • Tell us about the tools you use
  • Tell us what works, and what does not
  • Share with others the benefit of your valuable experiences

View this as an opportunity to explain to others in a way that they may learn from your experiences and grow in that knowledge. Presenters are encouraged to use PowerPoint or other presentation media.

Call for Questions –

  • Is there something you would like to know?
  • Is there a subject you would like to know more about?
  • Would you like to know which tools to use, or how to use the tools you have more effectively?
  • Do you have questions about domain registration, site hosting, email, designing with templates, ftp, subdomains, image optimization, multimedia, search optimization, local searching, traffic metering, localization, or other topics?

Submit your questions and inquiries. We will arrange to answer your questions and address those topics of interest to you. It is a day where no question shall be left behind.

A Day to Network –

Links and cross-references are the cornerstone of the web.  So, too, are the links and bonds we form between ourselves.  Join in this opportunity to meet others who share a common faith and dedication to getting our message to the world.

Join us in a day of sharing and learning. It will be a day to make new friends and acquaintances.
